You can imagine yourself sinking into this
comfortable furniture in the grand salon, enjoying conversations with
your traveling companions, and just relaxing ~ experiencing
château life at its best. This is one of three salons in
the château; three perfect places to take advantage of the slower
pace of life you will find in France. Lovely oriental rugs, a
massive fireplace, stone floors and beamed ceilings add to the charm
and character of the salon.

This little sitting
area in the photo at the left is opposite the grand salon and is
a quiet corner for a few people
to gather. As with all the other common rooms, the
furnishings are very suitable to the style and period of the
château yet informal enough to create a family atmosphere. One of two smaller
salons, the photo at the right shows a cozy spot to relax in front of
another of the château's many fireplaces. A door to the
outside gives access to the parc, and ample lighting creates another
good place to read or write. Stone walls are reminders of the
history of Château d'Ambrus, built in the 12th, 15th and 17th
centuries.

Try your hand
at some board games or walk through the door into the billiards room to
see how good you are at French billards
~ no pockets, a shorter pool cue, and a lot of new rules to
learn!

Tuck
yourself away
in this well-stocked library for some time alone with a book or to
bring
your travel journal up to date. As with all the common
rooms
in the château, the library is very
comfortable
and cozy. Beautiful stone floors, richly beamed ceilings
and good lighting make it perfect.

Last, but certainly not least, is this fine grand
piano in the music salon ~ a grand hall that is perfect for a
large group gathering ~ with magnificent windows that overlook the
estate.
