The Grotto and the Gardens

In the 18th century it was very popular to create an artificial grotto on one's estate if at all possible.  The owners of Château de Prauthoy back in those times  were fond of the idea and created this quite authentic maze of stalactites and stalagmites.  Guests of the château are bound to find a visit to the grotte very interesting indeed, especially as it leads into the Château's wine cellar and tasting room.
 

Above ground, as one wanders the estate, the spacious lawns and interesting landscape are quite appealing.   Strolls in the gardens with views of the château as a backdrop provide the opportunity to take in the country air and enjoy the silence of this lovely region of France.
