What
a glorious location! If flower gardens are your passion, we have
discovered the perfect spot for your stay in France.
Located in the wooded hills of eastern Brittany near the medieval town of Fougères and a short drive from le Mont St-Michel, the Channel beaches and villages, Le Parc Botanique de Haute Bretagne is nothing short of spectacular. As with all of au Château's properties, choosing photos for our pages was difficult -- especially when one view of the grounds is more wondrous than the last! Offering 24 botanical gardens for your enjoyment, this 50-acre park invites you to take peaceful strolls lulled by the sound of running water and floral fragrances while discovering a vast collection of rare trees and plants. Guided tours lasting about two hours can be arranged, but guests are free to explore each fascinating garden for themselves. Choose your time of year to visit based upon what is in bloom! In conjunction with the gardens is a boutique and book store at the entrance to the park. The 19th century Château de la Foltière has its origins in the 15th century and was under siege by the Royalist army during the Revolution. Lovingly restored and cared for, today five comfortable and spacious guest rooms with en suite baths await visitors. The rooms are named Renoir, Monet, Pissarro and Sisley and the suite is Dégas in keeping with their Impressionist décor, each with a marble fireplace and decorated in tasteful and carefully-selected colors and fabrics to create just the right atmosphere for your stay. All rooms provide panoramic views of the exceptional gardens below. A private lounge and a tea salon are available for the enjoyment of Foltière's guests. So whether it is to see 400 camelias in bloom in March and April, roses during the month of June, the Rhododendron Festival at the end of April or any other "seasons" of the Parc Botanique, you are certain to take great pleasure in your stay at this lovely and inviting manor house surrounded by such exquisite beauty. And, to make it nearly perfect, you will find your host, Monsieur Jouno, dedicated to his lovely home and gardens while devoting himself to his guests to ensure their comfort and enjoyment. |
