Château Juvenal
Nestled in the lovely landscape of Provence's Vaucluse département, between the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux, the stately and elegant 19th century Château Juvenal is a peaceful retreat and an ideal vacation destination.  At the foot of the Graveyron hill, the château is surrounded by oak and pine trees and guests can gaze from their windows at the vineyards and olive groves that are an important part of the estate.  In springtime, the hills are covered in yellow wild broom and blue iris, and the almond trees are bursting with pink flowers.  There are cool places shaded by grand old trees where guests can truly relax such as the lily pond and the secluded swimming pool.

The warmth of Provence is augmented by the warm hospitality of Monsieur and Madame Forestier who put their guests' comfort and enjoyment at the forefront.  The three spacious double bedrooms and one suite, all with private bathrooms, are in colors and décor in keeping with the Provençal character and authenticity of the château.  The apartments, recently completed, are delightful places for week-long vacations in Provence.

Dinner can be enjoyed at the château as well ~ experience the delicious regional cuisine accompanied by the château's own wines.   The grapes of the vineyard are Grenaches, Syrah and Carignan, harvested by hand and producing a full-bodied aromatic wine.  The 250 olive trees, some of which are three hundred years old, produce Verdale de Carpentras or Aglandau olives from which a wonderful oil is extracted, the flavor reminiscent of artichokes.  The Forestiers believe in being good stewards of the environment, carefully cultivating and preserving the natural beauty of the land.

Guests can take pleasant walks on and around the estate with views to the distant Lubéron and Alpilles mountains.  Outdoor activities in the area include hiking, mountain biking and climbing in the Dentelles or at the base of Mont Ventoux.  The market at Carpentras and the Truffle Festival are not to be missed.  Tours of local vineyards are popular and, when in season, the region is filled with the color and fragrance of lavender in bloom.  For those who like to golf or horseback ride, facilities for both are nearby.

Monsieur and Madame Forestier are very proud of the quality wines they are producing in their vineyards.  On the route of the Côtes du Rhône and quite near Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Beaumes de Venise, and Ventoux, they are an up and coming producer in this popular wine region.  They have a winery just down the road from the château where the wines are aged and which is open to the public for tastings and purchases.  See our Wine Châteaux page for more!

At the château, the Forestiers offer guests the opportunity to participate in painting or cooking courses, tango lessons, cheese and wine tasting and, in January, truffle tasting!    Your next visit to Provence will only be enhanced by a stay at Château Juvenal, and we hope you will not miss this incredible opportunity!
