Walk through the gate
that says 'welcome' as it leads guests to the entrance for their stay at
Château de Picomtal. Although this historic French château
had its beginnings in the year 1080, today it will offer guests a memorable
experience combined with every comfort and modern convenience.
The magnificent chapel
allows one to step back in time, showcases artistic achievement of days
long ago, and tells a story as well. The murals were painted by Isabelle
Roman in 1892 and dedicated to the life of King Saint Louis. The 19th-century
stained glass windows are decorated with the king's crown and fleur
de lys. The Roman-D'Amat family tree is painted on the wall above the
altar. La Chapelle is one of the many highlights of Château
de Picomtal. |

Dramatic views of
Château de Picomtal ~ one capturing a fleeting rainbow
and the other an evening event in the gardens ~ invite guests to come and
experience it all for themselves. This is the perfect vacation
destination in Provence's southern French Alps.

Conferences and
seminars can be held at the château. For smaller groups, the
Salle
des Lions at the left is ideal. Walnut and pear wood parquet
and wainscoting, a wood-beamed ceiling, Venetian mirror, and wallcoverings
with a lion and fleur-de-lys motif adorn this unique space. Most
interesting of all may be the 19th-century stained glass windows. The Salle
de Conférence, a lovely vaulted room, dates back to the 14th
century and at one time was a guard room. The original bread oven
is still in the room. As the largest room in the château, it
can accommodate one hundred people for conferences and concerts. |
