Château de la Resle

Burgundy has a unique appeal for visitors to France.  There is the richness of the landscape ~ lush rolling hills, many planted in vines ~ and winding country roads finding their way from one beautiful village to another.  It is also the home to great French cuisine, excellent wines and magnificent châteaux.  Among those is the sophisticated and elegant Château de la Resle, located between Chablis and Auxerre just east of the River Yonne.

Its owners have created an exceptional chambres d'hôtes offering two spacious en suite guest rooms and a suite in the château,  and a duplex, self-catering  suite in the Gardener's Cottage.  In the Gardener's cottage, there is a duplex self-catering suite comfortably furnished and equipped for a family of four. The suiteoffers a double bedroom, living room with sofa bed, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with rain shower and a separate toilet. In the newly renovated Farmhouse, there are two duplex self-catering suites. The suite in the château is high under the slate roof providing extraordinary views over the Montigny la Resle valley. It offers a double bedroom, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with rain shower, and double washbasins.  All suites have Nespresso machines and are equipped with satellite TV, Internet access, hair dryers, fine toiletries and mini bars.

The two spacious château bedrooms are furnished with comfortable double beds.  Chambre Irancy has an en suite bathroom with rain shower, and Chambre Chablis' bathroom is separate but private and has a bathtub.  Chambre Chablis offers wonderful  valley views, and Chambre Irancy has a garden view and overlooks the orangerie. Guests will find the rooms in the château extremely peaceful and ideal for restful getaways.  Those who are fortunate to stay at Château de la Resle will also rid themselves of stress in the spa by taking advantage of the high-quality exercise equipment, the sauna and the steam room or enjoying the beautiful new heated swimming pool.

A primary interest of the owners, and one that guests will certainly enjoy, is their collection of contemporary art.  Throughout the château

For those who are interested in the production of wine in Burgundy, the Château de la Resle will make a perfect home base for day trips to the nearby Chablis wine country and the town of Chablis on the River Serein.  Escolives Sainte Camille, south of Auxerre, is the location of the oldest remains of vineyards shown in a second century bas relief of a bunch of grapes. The Vézelay wine region is also to the south.  The entire wine region is called the 'Grand Auxerrois' and also includes the Côte Saint Jacques vineyards of Joigny and the Champvallon vineyards in the north of the département.

With all there is to do and see in this part of Burgundy, guests of Château de la Resle will find that they have selected the perfect place to call home for a few days.  It is well located near driving routes east to Burgundy's vast wine country, the magnificent Abbey de Fontenay and north to the city of Troyes on the River Seine where many of the houses in its old city date from 1530.   Château de la Resle is waiting for your arrival!
